The word ‘flamingo’ comes from the Spanish word ‘flamenco’ meaning fire, which refers to the bright pink or orange colour of the feathers.

Flamingos are born white or grey, but turn pink, orange, or red because of their diet.   They are fabulous, extrodinarily beautiful and unique.   Just like each of us!
